Drug Licence of Medical Store cancelled; Part of wider crackdown
Ferozepur, December 5, 2025: The zonal licensing authority in Ferozepur has cancelled the drug-retail licence of “Permit Medicos Lakho Ke Behram,” following repeated violations of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. According to Drug Control Officer Sonia Gupta, inspections conducted on September 3 and October 2, 2025 revealed several irregularities, including failure to produce purchase bills for medicines stocked at the shop. As the chemist failed to provide valid bills, the shop’s licence has been revoked in the interest of public health.
Earlier also in a decisive action against illegal drug sales, the Drug Control Department has sealed a medical shop in Zira and cancelled the licences of two medical stores for violating the orders of the District Magistrate, Ferozepur.
Punjab’s Health Department — through its regional licensing authorities — has reiterated that any chemist or medical store found violating drug-supply norms, lacking proper documentation, or dealing in banned/substandard medicines will face immediate licence revocation. The cancellation of the Ferozepur store’s licence underscores the renewed vigilance of regulatory authorities across the state.
