Chandigarh, December 6,2025—A total of 476 private schools, teachers, principals and students were felicitated for outstanding achievements in academics, culture, and arts at the 5th FAP National Awards 2025, organised by Chandigarh University in collaboration with the Federation of Private Schools and Associations of Punjab (FAP).
The event was inaugurated by Rajya Sabha MP and Chandigarh University Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu, with actor-comedian Karamjit Anmol as Guest of Honour and FAP President Dr Jagjit Singh Dhuri in attendance. Actor-comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi joined the prize distribution ceremony as Guest of Honour.
A total of 194 awardees were honoured for excellence in cultural activities, while 282 teachers, principals and students received awards for their performance in the Mega Olympiad Combat (MOC).

The ceremony also recognised winners from 43 schools that secured top positions in nine categories of folk music, dance and art competitions held at Chandigarh University. Competitions included Indian folk song (solo & group), wedding folk songs, Vaar, Kavishari, solo and group dance, and three art categories—painting, sketching and collage.
In Vaar, Amrit Indo Canadian School, Ludhiana, and Guru Nanak International School secured first place, while Disciplined Disciple International School, Gurdaspur, won first prize in the Kavishri category.
Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu said FAP Awards had filled a long-standing gap in recognising private schools, noting their significant share in India’s education system.
He highlighted Chandigarh University’s commitment to cultural and artistic development, citing its three-time win at the AIU National Youth Festival Championship and the university’s ₹4 crore annual budget dedicated to arts and culture.
Karamjit Anmol praised the awards for promoting folk culture and discouraging content promoting violence and vulgarity. Gurpreet Ghuggi urged schools to expose students to cultural tourism and heritage sites for holistic development.
FAP President Dr Jagjit Singh Dhuri noted that the awards had helped shift schools away from promoting inappropriate music towards embracing Punjab’s traditional art forms, with over 740 schools applying for cultural awards this year.
