Gurpeet Singh Sekhon arrested in Ferozepur as preventive measure ahead of the Zila Parishad polls.
Ferozepur, December 12, 2025: Ferozepur: Police arrested Gurpreet Singh Sekhon, gangster turned politician and guardian, as a preventive measure ahead of the upcoming Zila Parishad elections. Officials said the action was taken to maintain law and order and ensure peaceful polling in the district.
Gurpreet Singh Sekhon has been arrested on a complaint at Kulgarhi station, as a preventive action, and no case has been registered. However, he will be presented in the SDM office today afternoon for further action, said Karan Sharma, DSP.
In Ferozepur, former “most wanted” Gurpreet Singh Sekhon, alias Sonu Mudki, was active in Zila Parishad elections.
In a message viral on social media, the supporters of Gurpreet Singh Sekhon of Mudki have appealed to assemble at Bazidpur Chowk to protest against the arrest of Sekhon.
In another viral message video recorded by him (on 11.12.2025 on Thursday at 2.40 pm) before his arrest, has also been floated on social media, naming the MLA for registration of a case, by giving false reporting and appealing for maximum voting also.
Sekhon was a co-mastermind of the sensational Nabha jailbreak in November 2016 (during the SAD-BJP government). He was freed by a heavily armed gang that stormed the high-security jail in Patiala district and helped six “most wanted” criminals escape, including two terrorists. Sekhon,claims to have transitioned into mainstream politics after spending nearly 10 years in jails.
Two of his female relatives, his wife Mandeep Kaur (Bazidpur zone) and Kuljeet Kaur (Ferozeshah zone), are contesting the zila parishad polls, with Sekhon personally leading their campaign.
After coming out of jail two years ago, he has not only changed his appearance, now sporting a flowing beard, but also moved in a cavalcade of vehicles. He now has more than 50,000 followers on Facebook.
In one of his press meetings at Ferozepur on September 22, he presented himself as a self-styled social reformer pledging to dedicate his life to public service and a drug-free Punjab.
