Sri Muktsar Sahib Police on high alert ahead of Block Samiti and Zila Parishad Polls; Watch Video

Sri Muktsar Sahib (Punjab), December 13, 2025:In view of the upcoming Block Samiti and Zila Parishad elections, the Sri Muktsar Sahib Police have been placed on high alert, with extensive and stringent security arrangements put in place across the district.
Following the directions issued by Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, IPS, the security measures are being implemented under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Rana, IPS.

As part of the preparedness, police personnel deployed on election duty were thoroughly briefed at the Police Lines in Sri Muktsar Sahib. Patrolling teams were issued wireless sets and dispatched to their respective designated areas. SP (Headquarters) Harkamal Kaur and DSP (Headquarters) Tajinder Pal Singh were also present on the occasion.
Sharing details, SSP Abhimanyu Rana said that a total of 334 polling stations and 629 polling booths have been set up in Sri Muktsar Sahib district.
To ensure a peaceful, fair and transparent polling process, police patrolling parties have been deployed around polling booths, along with inter-district, inter-state and internal checkpoints. Overall, around 1,800 police officers and personnel have been assigned election duty.
The SSP further stated that additional police force, special patrolling teams and enhanced surveillance have been deployed at sensitive and highly sensitive polling booths. He emphasized that the district administration and Sri Muktsar Sahib Police remain available round the clock to assist the public and warned that any attempt to disturb law and order will be dealt with strictly.
As part of preventive measures, special checking drives are being conducted at hotels, dhabas and restaurants to keep a close watch on the movement of anti-social elements and to maintain law and order during the election period.
SSP Abhimanyu Rana issued strict instructions to all police officers and personnel on election duty to ensure that the electoral process remains free, fair and peaceful. He stressed the importance of maintaining neutrality, discipline and adherence to the law, while also directing officers to deal with the public politely and with sensitivity.
