Sukhbir Singh Badal Gives Go-Ahead to Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer from Ghanaur Constituency

Ghanaur, January 17, 2026: Today, Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal visited the residence of Shiromani Committee Member Jathedar Jasmer Singh Lachhru in village Lachhru Khurd. On this occasion, Youth Akali Dal President and Ghanaur Constituency In-charge Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer, along with other senior Akali leaders, accorded Sukhbir Singh Badal a grand and warm welcome.
During the event, Sukbir Singh Badal gave the go-ahead to Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer for the Ghanaur constituency. Addressing the gathering, he appealed to the people to form an Akali government, assuring them that thereafter Ghanaur would be developed into one of Punjab’s leading constituencies. “We will open the doors of development for the people. I am not just giving you a candidate from Ghanaur; I am leaving behind my younger brother in the form of Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer,” he said. Sukhbir Badal also encouraged the Shiromani Akali Dal candidates for Zila Parishad and Block Samiti from the Ghanaur area.
Sukhbir Badal said that the Akali Dal has always worked with concrete and ground-level commitment for the development of Punjab, including Ghanaur. He said that roads, schools, healthcare facilities, water supply, and farmer-friendly policies have been among the major achievements of Akali governments.
Launching a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, he said that the promises made to people before elections remain confined to paper even today. “Neither have the youth received jobs, nor have farmers and common people got any significant relief. The law and order situation, the drug menace, and rising inflation clearly expose the failure of the present government,” he said.
Sukhbir Badal assured the people of Punjab that when the Shiromani Akali Dal forms the government in 2027 with public support, new farmer-friendly, pro-poor, and youth-oriented schemes will be launched. He said government jobs would be ensured for the youth, and major, concrete reforms would be brought in health and education. He added that gangster rule would be completely eradicated and law and order in the state would be restored. “The Shiromani Akali Dal is fully committed to making Punjab a safe, prosperous, and progressive state,” he emphasized.
Praising Youth Akali Dal President Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer, Sukhbir Badal said that Jhinjer is among the sincere and honest soldiers of the Akali Dal. Drawing an analogy, he said that just as electricity reaches homes through a chain—from Bhakra to the grid, from the grid to the transformer, and from the transformer to homes—despite obstacles, Bhakra always delivers power. “Similarly, Jhinjer is a dependable leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal who always works for the people of the state,” he said.
Speaking to the media, Youth Akali Dal President Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer said that the Shiromani Akali Dal has always stood with people in their joys and sorrows. He recalled that during the floods a few months ago, Sukhbir Singh Badal had ensured immediate relief, financial assistance, diesel, food items, and other essential help across Punjab, including in the Ghanaur constituency. “In contrast, the present government remained confined to mere statements,” he said.
Jhinjer said that to save Punjab, it is the need of the hour to once again unite under the banner of the Shiromani Akali Dal. He added that a party operating at the behest of Delhi has caused grave damage to Punjab’s politics, the burden of which is being borne by common people. He asserted that the Shiromani Akali Dal is the only party that truly represents Punjab, Punjabi identity, and the rights of the state, and that the people will give a fitting reply to this Delhi-controlled party in the times to come.
He further alleged that during the recent Zila Parishad elections, the AAP government openly misused the state machinery to indulge in coercion. Opposition candidates and workers were intimidated, nominations were rejected, and the democratic process was trampled underfoot. “All this happened under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, proving that the Aam Aadmi Party practices politics of power, not of democracy. The Akali Dal will continue its struggle at every level to protect democracy,” he said.
Sukhbir Badal said that while other parties came to rule Punjab, only the late Parkash Singh Badal came to power to serve. He worked at every level for the welfare of the people.
He expressed confidence that in 2027, the people of Punjab will once again place their trust in the pro-people policies and developmental vision of the Akali Dal, as it remains the true voice of Punjab and Punjabis.
On this occasion, Youth Akali Dal President Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer thanked Sukhbir Singh Badal and said that Badal Sahib’s vision constantly inspires them to work for the people of Ghanaur and Punjab. He added that with Badal Sahib’s support, the Youth Akali Dal stands ready in every circumstance to protect the rights, welfare, and socio-economic interests of the people.
