Chandigarh, January 17, 2026: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab State Media Incharge Baltej Pannu on Friday launched a sharp counterattack on Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini over his remarks on flood compensation in Punjab, calling them a “pack of lies” and an attempt to mislead the public.
Baltej Pannu said that instead of making false statements about Punjab, the Haryana Chief Minister should question the Central Government over the non-release of Punjab’s pending dues.
He asserted that the Punjab Government has compensated every single flood-affected family, covering losses related to damaged houses, livestock and even providing support to families that lost loved ones during the floods.
Pannu questioned the Centre’s intent, asking where the Rs 1,600 crore ‘token money’ announced by the Prime Minister during his visit to Punjab for flood relief had gone.
“When even the token assistance has not been released by the Centre, it exposes the anti-Punjab approach of the Central Government,” he said. Taking strong exception to Naib Saini’s public statements, Pannu challenged him to hold a press conference among the flood victims instead of behind closed doors.
“If he speaks directly to the affected people, the truth will come out on who actually stood with them in their hour of need,” he added.
Refuting allegations against Punjab’s governance, Pannu pointed out that the Punjab Government’s ‘Jisda Khet, Usdi Ret’ sand policy was praised even in the Haryana Assembly, calling it a farmer-friendly and transparent reform.
Concluding his remarks, Baltej Pannu said that Punjabis have always faced adversity with resilience and self-reliance.
He advised Naib Saini to focus on addressing Haryana’s internal issues and ensure that Punjab receives its rightful dues from the Centre, instead of indulging in politically motivated and misleading narratives against Punjab.
