Chandigarh/Delhi, January 17, 2026: Amid the escalating political controversy over a video involving former Delhi Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Atishi, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has launched a sharp counterattack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), challenging it to seek a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe if it lacks faith in existing inquiries.
Reacting to the dispute following the Delhi Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report, CM Mann said the video in question had been deliberately misrepresented through misleading subtitles, calling it an insult and a distortion of facts. He asserted that the content of the video does not support the claims being made by the BJP.
“If the BJP does not trust the investigation reports of Punjab or Delhi, then they are free to get the matter investigated by their own central agency, the CBI,” Mann said, throwing an open challenge to the party.
The Punjab Chief Minister alleged that the BJP-led dispensation in Delhi was intentionally twisting the issue to malign the image of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He maintained that such tactics were politically motivated and aimed at creating unnecessary controversy.
Notably, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta had earlier termed the video authentic, referring to the Delhi Forensic Lab’s report. Meanwhile, the Punjab Police has already conducted its own investigation and registered an FIR in the matter.
