Unclaimed bag yields 6.900 kg Poppy Husk at Ferozepur Cantt Rly Stn
Ferozepur, January 28, 2026: In a significant success for the Government Railway Police (GRP), demonstrating high alertness under the state’s ongoing anti-drug crusade, a large consignment of narcotics was recovered from the railway yard today. The operation was carried out following the strategic guidelines issued by the Special Director General of Police (Railways) Punjab and DSP (Zonal) Ferozepur.
During a specialized checking drive for suspicious items and persons, a police party led by ASI Jatinder Singh discovered a yellow plastic bag lying abandoned under suspicious circumstances in the yard area. Upon searching the unclaimed bag, the team recovered 6.900 kg of poppy husk.
Naveen Kumar, Station House Officer, GRP Ferozepur, informed that an FIR (No. 02) has been registered under the NDPS Act against unknown persons. He stated that the police are currently investigating the matter to identify the smugglers who left the contraband behind.
