Railway conducts midnight ‘Mock Drill to test disaster preparedness on FZR-BTI Section
Ferozepur, January 28, 2026: The Ferozepur Division of Northern Railway successfully conducted a midnight mock drill on the Ferozepur-Bathinda rail section, under the strategic guidance of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Sanjay Kumar and the leadership of Senior Divisional Safety Officer Rohit Verma.
The exercise, held between Golehwala and Faridkot at Level Crossing Gate No. 39/C, was designed to evaluate the alertness, technical efficiency, and response time of railway personnel in the event of an unforeseen disaster. By simulating a high-pressure emergency, the division aimed to ensure that all staff members are mentally and physically equipped to handle real-life crises such as train accidents or fire outbreaks.
The mock drill featured a simulated collision between a Down BCN train and a tractor-trolley at the level crossing, creating a scenario with four critically injured passengers. Upon receiving the "accident" alert, the railway administration immediately dispatched two emergency relief trains (ARME/ART) from Ferozepur, alongside a fleet of ambulances. The response focused on the critical chain of command, including the timely notification of senior administration, mobilization of medical and paramedical teams, and the efficient delivery of primary first aid and rescue operations.
DRM Sanjay Kumar emphasized that these drills are essential for maintaining a state of constant readiness. He noted that the primary objective is to verify that staff can work effectively under pressure to minimize casualties and restore normalcy.
The operation was supervised by a high-level team of officials, including Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Ranjana Sehgal, Senior DEE/TRD Jeetram, Senior DME Bhupendra, Senior DOM/G Dr. Amar Shekhar Parcha, and Divisional Engineer Akashdeep Singh. Following a thorough inspection of the rescue and relief maneuvers, the drill was officially declared successful, highlighting the agility and dedication of the Ferozepur railway team.
