SBS State University signs landmark MoU with PI-RAHI to enhance Research-Innovation
Ferozepur, 3, 2025: In a significant move to bolster skill development and technological advancement, Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) State University, Ferozepur, has formally entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PI-RAHI Chandigarh. The agreement, signed on February 2, 2026, marks a strategic partnership between the university and the Punjab University-IIT Ropar Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovations Foundation to foster a culture of research and community engagement in the northern region.
The formal ceremony saw Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of SBS State University, Ferozepur, and Dr. Rajat Sandhir, Director of PI-RAHI, signing the documents in the presence of senior academic officials. Under the terms of this agreement, both institutions will collaborate to design and implement skill-based training programs, specialized workshops, and certification modules. These initiatives are aimed at enhancing the professional competency of students by providing practical exposure to both emerging and traditional technical fields.
A major highlight of this collaboration is the focus on capacity building in cutting-edge sectors such as drone technology, 3D printing, and modern agricultural techniques through the university's IDEA Lab. Furthermore, the partnership aims to ignite the spirit of entrepreneurship by providing students with startup mentorship, incubation support, and guidance on business plan development. This will be supported by industry engagement and access to potential funding opportunities for student-led innovations.
As part of the outreach program, PI-RAHI will utilize its vast institutional and community networks to facilitate internships, apprenticeships, and experiential learning for the students of SBS State University. This academic exchange is expected to significantly improve the quality of education and research by bridging the existing gap between academic theory and industry requirements.
Speaking at the event, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma expressed his optimism, stating that the collaboration would be a cornerstone for regional development and innovation. Similarly, Dr. Rajat Sandhir emphasized that the MoU would create meaningful pathways for researchers and students to address societal challenges through technological solutions.
