Chandigarh, February 8, 2026: In a major development, the Central Government has denied permission to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for his proposed foreign visit, leading to the cancellation of his scheduled European tour.
According to sources, the Chief Minister was slated to depart on February 8 for a visit to several European countries, where he was expected to hold a series of important meetings. However, the Centre did not grant the required clearance, forcing the cancellation of the tour.
Reacting to the decision, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Bikramjit Passi said this was not the first instance when Chief Minister Mann had been denied permission to travel abroad. He alleged that on several previous occasions as well, the Centre had refused approval citing various reasons. Passi claimed that the Central Government does not want Punjab to progress.
