SAS Nagar-Mohali (Punjab), February 13, 2026: In a move aimed at maintaining law and order, District Magistrate Komal Mittal has imposed a complete ban on dharnas, rallies and demonstrations within and around the District Administrative Complex, Sector-76, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar.
As per the directive, no protest, slogan-shouting, or gathering of five or more persons will be allowed within the boundary of the District Administrative Complex or within a 100-metre radius outside its premises.
The restrictions will remain in force from February 11, 2026, to April 10, 2026.
However, the order clarifies that entry of fewer than five persons through the main gate for submitting memorandums or official representations will not be restricted.
Explaining the rationale behind the decision, the District Magistrate stated that political parties, employee unions and members of the public frequently stage protests around the complex, causing inconvenience to government staff and visitors.
She noted that such gatherings not only disrupt official functioning but also pose risks of property damage and threats to life and public safety.
