Ludhiana (Punjab), February 21, 2026: A day after a dramatic video of an NRI woman chasing bike-borne miscreants with a sword went viral on social media, the woman has come forward to narrate the full sequence of events, shedding light on how she sensed danger and acted swiftly to thwart an alleged robbery attempt in Dehlon area of Ludhiana.
Harjind Kaur, who recently arrived from Australia, said she and her family had already grown suspicious after noticing unknown men trailing their car on a relatively deserted stretch of road late Friday night. Anticipating trouble, her aunt immediately switched on her mobile phone camera to document the situation.
Moments later, two motorcycle-borne youths allegedly threw eggs at the windshield of their moving car — a tactic often used to obstruct visibility and force vehicles to stop. The suspects then positioned their bike directly in front of the car, attempting to block its path.
Inside the vehicle, an elderly woman can be heard in the viral video warning that the road was isolated and expressing concern that the act was intended to facilitate a robbery.
Recounting the tense moments, Harjind Kaur said the men appeared to be trying to surround the vehicle.
She stepped out of the car holding her kirpan, despite attempts by the elderly co-passenger to restrain her. The sight of the unsheathed sword reportedly startled the miscreants, who fled the scene immediately.
The video shows her briefly chasing them while raising an alarm.
Harjind Kaur also revealed that, for safety reasons, a weapon (Kirpan) is always kept inside their vehicle. She maintained that her actions were driven by instinct and self-defence.
