Two police personnel found dead at border check post in Gurdaspur; Probe underway

Gurdaspur (Punjab), February 22, 2026: Panic gripped the border village of Adhian in Gurdaspur district after two police personnel were found dead at a check post under the Dorangla police station area.
The incident occurred at the Adhian check post, which falls along the second line of defence near the India-Pakistan border. According to initial information, the bodies of two on-duty personnel were discovered inside the check post premises, triggering alarm across the area.
The deceased have been identified as ASI Commando Gurnam Singh and a Home Guard jawan, both of whom were deployed at the check post at the time of the incident.
Senior police officials rushed to the spot after receiving information. The area, being a sensitive border belt, usually has heightened security deployment. Authorities have begun a detailed investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the deaths.
SSP Gurdaspur Aditya stated that the matter is being thoroughly investigated. He confirmed that one of the deceased was a commando and the other a Home Guard personnel. He added that the exact cause of death will be determined after a comprehensive inquiry.
Police officials said further details will be shared once the investigation progresses.
