Gurdaspur (Punjab), February 22, 2026: In a shocking development in the mysterious deaths of two police personnel at a border check-post in village Adiyan under Dorangala police station, the families of the deceased have come forward, strongly rejecting claims that the two had fired at each other.
The incident occurred late last night when Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurnam Singh and Home Guard jawan Ashok Kumar were found dead under suspicious circumstances at the check-post. However, both families have categorically denied any possibility of mutual firing.
Sandeep Singh, son of ASI Gurnam Singh, and Sandeep Kumar, son of Home Guard jawan Ashok Kumar, stated that it has been established that both service weapons were fully loaded, ruling out the theory that they shot each other.
They emphasized that the condition in which the bodies were found clearly indicates that the two were shot while asleep.
The families further revealed that both personnel shared a close bond and were known to perform their duties diligently and peacefully at the naka. “They cared deeply for each other. There was no question of any dispute. They were directly murdered,” the family members said, expressing hope that the police department would ensure justice for them.
Meanwhile, village Adiyan Sarpanch Karamjit Singh disclosed that Dorangala SHO Banarsi Dass had called him in the morning, asking him to check why both personnel were not responding to phone calls. Upon reaching the check-post, he found both men lying lifeless — one seated on a chair and the other stretched out on a bench.
According to the sarpanch, it was evident from the scene that the two had been shot by someone else.
