Barnala (Punjab), March 7, 2026: In a significant move to promote women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship, Lok Sabha MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer today honoured 100 women entrepreneurs from Barnala at the “Women Entrepreneur Felicitation Program” (Mahila Udhami Samman Program), organized under the theme “Apna Karobar, Apni Pehchaan.”
Speaking at the event held at Barnala Club, Hayer highlighted that the Mann Government is taking commendable steps to recognize and support women-led businesses across Punjab. “Through their enterprise and hard work, these women not only strengthen the economic condition of their families but also inspire society,” he said.
The program follows a tiered recognition approach, beginning at the constituency level, followed by district-level felicitation, and culminating in a state-level event later this month. At the final event, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will honour the top 100 women entrepreneurs from across Punjab, each receiving a cash prize of ₹25,000 in recognition of their achievements.
Hayer noted that the initiative has received an overwhelming response from women across the state, reflecting the Punjab Government’s commitment to women empowerment and entrepreneurship.
The event was attended by key dignitaries and officials, including Chairman Nagar Sudhar Trust Shri Ram Tirath Manna, S. Harinder Singh Dhaliwal, Madam Smriti Kaushal, women leader Nisha Sharma, Sukhwinder Kaur Sukhi Sanghera, Jaswant Kaur Gill, Ravinder Kaur Sidhu, Laxmi Rani (Constituency Coordinator), and the staff of the Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission.
This program is part of a statewide initiative that aims to honour women entrepreneurs at all district levels and encourage more women to establish and grow their businesses in Punjab.
