Chandigarh, March 10 – The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today received a major boost with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Spokesman and former minister Satpal Gosain’s grandson Amit Gosain joining the SAD in the presence of its president Sukhbir Singh Badal here.
The joining, which occurred at the SAD’s head office here, saw Amit Gosain joining the party along with his numerous supporters.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sukhbir Badal said “I have always held Sh Satpal Gosain in the highest regard. He was a man of the masses and always stood with his constituents through thick and thin”. He said Amit Gosain also had the same qualities and he was confident that the latter would be a true asset to the SAD. He also announced the appointment of the youth leader as the Halka incharge of the Ludhiana Central assembly constituency.
The SAD president also elevated three senior leaders of Ludhiana on the occasion. He said Jiwan Dhawan had been appointed as Senior Vice President of the party, Prem Singh Harnampura as Vice President and Dr Harpal Singh Kohli as a Member of the Political Affairs Committee.
In another important development, the SAD president inducted Amrik Singh Ballowal, Spokesperson and Management Committee member of Majara Sahib Sri Hazur Nabh Kanwal Raja Sahib ji and General Secretary of Gurdwara Janam Asthan Raja Sahib into the SAD. He said Ballowal, who was earlier in the Aam Aadmi Party, had become disgusted with AAP after the manner in which the latter’s government committed acts of sacrilege at Gurdwara Janam Asthan Raja Sahib. He appointed Ballowal as a Spokesperson of the SAD.
Mr Badal also welcomed Surjit Singh Pardhan and Manjinder Singh to the party fold. EOM
