Drone-Drop input leads to 12.8 Kg heroin haul near Indo-Pak Border
Ferozepur, March 13, 2026: In a significant breakthrough against cross-border narcotics smuggling, a joint operation by the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police led to the recovery of 12 kg 837 grams of heroin from the border area in the Ferozepur sector.
According to official sources, security agencies received a specific input regarding suspected drone activity in the border belt, indicating a possible drone-dropping of narcotics from across the border. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, a joint search operation was launched by BSF personnel along with the Punjab Police in the suspected area.
During the search conducted under the supervision of AC Coy Commander Avishek Anand of D Coy, 99 Battalion BSF, security teams noticed a suspicious plastic packet lying in the fields near the border outpost. Upon checking, the packet was found to contain 12.837 kilograms of heroin.
The recovered contraband is suspected to have been dropped by a drone from across the Indo-Pakistan border for further collection by local operatives.
Following the recovery, the seized heroin was handed over to the police. On the complaint of Inspector/SHO Baljinder Singh, a case under the NDPS Act has been registered against unknown smugglers, and further investigations are underway.
Security agencies believe that increased drone activity along the international border is being used by smugglers to push narcotics into Indian territory. Surveillance and anti-drone measures in the border areas have been further intensified to curb such attempts.
