Barnala, March 20
Justice Harpreet Singh Brar, Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and Inspecting Judge of Sessions Division Barnala, conducted an annual inspection of the District Courts in Barnala today.
He also paid a visit to the village of Fatehgarh Chhanna. Joining him on this occasion were Ms. Anshul Berry, District and Sessions Judge, and other judicial dignitaries.
During the court inspection, Justice Brar reviewed the operations and annual records of all civil and criminal courts within the Barnala complex. He provided directives to the appropriate officials to enhance efficiency. He also interacted with members of the Bar Council, discussing relevant matters.
As part of his visit, Justice Brar planted a sapling on the court complex premises and convened a meeting with judicial officers from the Barnala Sessions Division. Furthermore, he inaugurated a new crèche for children located in the recently completed service block of the District Court Complex. Gifts were also distributed to children as part of the event.
As a proponent of green initiatives, Justice Brar visited Fatehgarh Chhanna under the "Green and Clean Village" project. He expressed appreciation for the Guru Nanak Bagichi, a plantation effort within General Zorawar Singh Park featuring over 50 fruit-bearing plants. Additionally, he lauded the project's innovative composting initiative that converts wet waste into organic manure at the park.
While in the village, Justice Brar visited the Government High Smart School and engaged in meaningful interactions with students. He acknowledged their efforts along with those of the Forest Department team, recognizing their valuable contributions to community-centric initiatives.
The judge also visited a fish farming project established in the village's Panchayat pond. Dr. Harjinder Singh Bedi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), highlighted that Daroga Chauhan, a resident of Handiaya, had set up a fish nursery in the pond to cultivate fish seeds for distribution to other farms.
Justice Brar commended this entrepreneurial undertaking as a promising model for local development.
The event was attended by key stakeholders, including SSP Barnala Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam, SDM Tapa Ayush Goyal, all judicial officers, District Bar Association President Pankaj Bansal, and members of the village Panchayat.
