Tehran, March 23, 2026: Iran has imposed $2 million charges on some vessels to pass through Strait of Hormuz. Iranian lawmaker Alaeddin Boroujerdi, who is a member of the parliament's national security committee, disclosed this to state broadcaster Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
He said that this decision was necessary as it reflects new "sovereign regime" in the strait after decades. "Collecting $2 million as transit fees from some vessels crossing the strait reflects Iran's strength," Boroujerdi said.
