Serial mobile thief arrested at Railway Station; stolen phones recovered
Ferozepur, March 25, 2026; The Government Railway Police (GRP) Ferozepur successfully apprehended a habitual mobile thief involved in stealing phones from train passengers, acting on the directions of the Special DGP Railways (Patiala) and under the supervision of the DSP (GRP) Ferozepur,
ASI Jatinder Singh, along with the police team, was present at Ferozepur Cantt Railway Station when a reliable informer tipped them off about the accused, identified as Pawanpreet alias Pawan, son of Garmel Singh, a resident of Khosa Pando, under Sadar Police Station, Moga district. The informer revealed that the accused was a habitual offender who used to steal mobile phones from passengers in trains and sell them.
Acting swiftly, the police team raided Platform No. 2 of Ferozepur Cantt Railway Station and apprehended the accused while he was allegedly waiting for a customer to sell the stolen phones. During the search, three stolen mobile phones—two of Oppo brand and one Realme—were recovered from his possession.
A case FIR No. 06 dated March 22, 2026, under Sections 303(2) and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at GRP Police Station, Ferozepur, and further investigation is underway.
Preliminary investigation has also revealed that the accused has a criminal history, with previous theft cases registered against him in Moga, Faridkot, and Amritsar.
Inspector Naveen Kumar, SHO, GRP Ferozepur, confirmed the arrest and stated that further investigation is in progress.
