Chandigarh, March 25, 2026: Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered to conduct election for the posts of Chairman and Vice Chairman of Rampura Phul Block Samiti on April 1, 2026. This was disclosed by Chief Spokesman and Legal Cell Chairman of Akali Dal Advocate Arshdeep Singh Kler.
Talking to reporters after court hearing, Advocate Kler disclosed that the matter regarding the elections for the posts of Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Rampura Phul Block Samiti was taken up for hearing in the High Court. Earlier, on two occasions, these elections were cancelled by the Punjab Government as the Aam Aadmi Party did not have a majority.
He said that now, the Hon’ble High Court has issued directions that these elections will be conducted on 1st April 2026 under the supervision of the High Court, and an independent observer (a lawyer) has been appointed by the Court for this purpose.
He said that the elections shall be conducted under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Bathinda, ensuring full transparency and fairness.
He said that the Hon’ble High Court has also clearly directed that local MLAs and other persons who are not entitled to vote shall not be allowed to enter the polling venue.
He said that this is the second such direction passed by the High Court in the last two days on writ petitions filed by the Shiromani Akali Dal. Earlier court had issued similar orders in case of Baghapurana Block Samiti.
