Shahi–Patwari panel sweeps Mohali Press Club Polls; Gurmeet Shahi elected President

S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), April 4, 2026: The Shahi–Patwari group secured a decisive victory in the 2026–27 governing body elections of the Mohali Press Club, with Gurmeet Singh Shahi elected as President and Sukhdev Singh Patwari as General Secretary.
The elections were conducted under the supervision of Chief Election Commissioner Harinder Pal Singh Harry, along with Election Commissioners Kulwinder Singh Bawa and Gurmeet Singh Randhawa. Results were officially घोषित around 4:30 pm, confirming the Shahi–Patwari panel’s win.
The newly elected team includes Senior Vice President Manjit Singh Chana, Vice Presidents Vijay Pal and Neelam Thakur, Organising Secretary Vijay Kumar, Joint Secretaries Dr. Ravinder Kaur and Sandeep Bindra, and Cashier Rajiv Taneja.
Speaking after the victory, General Secretary Sukhdev Singh Patwari thanked the election panel for conducting the polls smoothly and peacefully. He said the key priority for the new body would be to secure a permanent space for the Press Club, adding that efforts would be made in coordination with the government and the wider journalist community.
The announcement was followed by celebrations among members, who congratulated the newly elected team with फूल मालाएं and sweets.
The Election Commission, meanwhile, expressed gratitude to all members for ensuring a smooth and cooperative election process.
