Heritage Loco becomes star attraction at Ferozepur Rly Station on World Heritage Day
Ferozepur, April 19, 2026: Marking World Heritage Day, the Ferozepur Division organized a series of awareness and engagement activities from April 17 to April 23, 2026, as per the directives of the Railway Board. As part of these celebrations, a beautifully restored Heritage Loco at Ferozepur Cantt Railway Station emerged as a major attraction for passengers.
The theme for World Heritage Day 2026 is “Emergency Response for Living Heritage in Contexts of Conflicts and Disasters”. Celebrated annually on April 18, this theme focuses on protecting cultural traditions, practices, and sites threatened by human-made or natural crises.
The historic locomotive, installed within the station premises, was aesthetically refurbished and decorated in its traditional form, offering visitors a glimpse into the rich legacy of Indian Railways. The initiative not only enhanced the station’s visual appeal but also highlighted the importance of preserving railway heritage.
To further engage passengers, an attractive selfie point was set up near the Heritage Loco. Travellers, especially the youth, enthusiastically clicked photographs, making the occasion memorable.
During the event, passengers were also informed about the historical significance of the Heritage Loco and the glorious heritage of Indian Railways. The initiative received an encouraging response and added a unique charm to the World Heritage Day celebrations at the station.
