2.43 Lakh MT wheat arrives in Ferozepur mandis; Procurement continues smoothly
Ferozepur, April 19, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma informed that wheat procurement in the district mandis is progressing smoothly, with various government agencies actively engaged in the process. So far, a total of 2,03,721 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured across the district.
She stated that by yesterday evening, the total arrival of wheat in different mandis of the district had reached 2,43,055 metric tonnes, out of which 2,03,721 metric tonnes had already been purchased.
Providing further details, the Deputy Commissioner said that MARKFED has procured 60,467 metric tonnes, PUNGRAIN 63,454 metric tonnes, PUNSUP 50,875 metric tonnes, and Punjab State Warehousing Corporation 28,925 metric tonnes of wheat so far.
She added that payments to farmers are being made directly into their bank accounts within 48 hours of procurement. The lifting of the procured crop has also commenced.
The Deputy Commissioner assured that no inconvenience will be allowed to farmers in the mandis regarding wheat procurement, and all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a hassle-free process.
