Zirakpur (Punjab), April 26, 2026:Punjab BJP working president Ashwani Sharma on Sunday asserted that the party will contest the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections on its own strength, signaling a clear shift in its electoral strategy in the state.

Sharma was addressing party workers at a programme organised under the leadership of senior BJP leader Gurdarshan Singh Saini at the party office in Zirakpur, where participants gathered to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio programme Mann Ki Baat.
Addressing a large gathering, Sharma said the BJP is no longer dependent on alliances in Punjab and is steadily expanding its base across the state. He emphasized that the party will also contest upcoming municipal council and municipal corporation elections on its own symbol, urging workers to begin preparations immediately.

He claimed that people in Punjab are disillusioned with traditional political parties and are increasingly turning towards the BJP due to its pro-people policies. “The party is emerging as a strong political force in Punjab and will deliver impressive results in both Assembly and local body elections,” he said.
Earlier, Gurdarshan Singh Saini welcomed Sharma and briefed him on party activities in the Dera Bassi constituency. Several local leaders and party workers attended the event and pledged to work collectively to strengthen the BJP’s presence in the region.
