Ludhiana (Punjab), April 26, 2026:Akali Dal “Waris Punjab De” on Sunday announced that MP Amritpal Singh will be projected as the party’s chief ministerial face for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, with a commitment to appoint two Deputy Chief Ministers from the Hindu and Dalit communities.
The announcement was made by party patron Tarsem Singh during a large Panthic gathering held at Mundian Kalan in Ludhiana. The event, organised by senior leader Gurpreet Singh Sonu, witnessed a significant turnout, which party leaders described as a sign of growing public support.
Addressing the gathering, Tarsem Singh said the party aims to ensure inclusive governance by giving representation to all sections of society. He asserted that bringing Akali Dal “Waris Punjab De” to power is necessary to tackle key issues such as drug abuse, gangsterism, unemployment and law and order challenges in Punjab.
Taking a swipe at rival parties, he said people are disillusioned with governments formed on “populist promises” and are now looking for a credible alternative. He added that the party is confident of forming a “Panthic government” in 2027 under the leadership of Amritpal Singh.
Other leaders, including Rajiv Kumar Lovely and Sandeep Singh Rupalo, echoed similar sentiments, claiming that public support for the party is steadily increasing across the state.
Several local leaders and party workers were present at the event, reaffirming their commitment to strengthen the party’s base ahead of the upcoming elections.
