SSP interacts with VWS students over Anti-Drug Talk Show, calls for actions against abuse and stigma on Punjab's youth
Ferozepur, April 2, 2026: In a powerful and thought-provoking initiative, Vivekananda World School organized an anti-drug awareness talk show that went beyond conventional discussions and struck at the heart of a larger concern—the growing stigma attached to Punjab’s youth.

The event commenced by welcoming Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ferozepur, the Chief Guest for the Talk Show by presenting him a bouquet by Shipra Narula, VP Academics and Mahima Kapoor, VP Admin.
The highlight of the event was a marathon and deeply engaging discussion with Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ferozepur, who interacted extensively with students and shared practical insights into tackling drug abuse. The session witnessed active participation, making it both insightful and impactful.
A key outcome of the deliberations was a strong and unanimous conclusion: while strict and sustained measures are necessary to curb drug abuse, there is an equally urgent need to challenge and correct the damaging narrative that portrays Punjab’s youth as largely drug-addicted. Participants emphasized that such generalizations undermine the achievements, potential, and resilience of a generation that continues to excel in academics, sports, and various professional fields.
The forum collectively gave a clarion call to the youth of Punjab to rise above stereotypes and actively demonstrate their capabilities through excellence and positive contributions, thereby dismantling the unwarranted stigma associated with the state.

Adding depth to the dialogue, Class 12 students Tarinderpal Singh and Arundeep Kaur posed thoughtful questions, reflecting awareness and a sense of responsibility among young minds.
The event was graced by eminent dignitaries, including Sameer Mittal, Patron of the school, and Dr. Gaurav Sagar Bhaskar, whose presence reinforced the importance of the initiative.
Taking a significant step forward, the school introduced the concept of ‘Drug Vigilators’, appointing selected students from Grades 6 to 12 as Drug Vigilant Ambassadors. These student leaders will actively promote awareness, encourage healthy lifestyles, and remain vigilant against drug-related influences within their peer groups and communities.
The program also saw the participation of respected village representatives, including Kuldeep Singh Bhullar, Balwinder Singh, Harjinder Singh, Gurjant Singh, and Amrik Singh. They were honored by the school and assured their full support in spreading the anti-drug message across their respective villages. The event was truly a success with the support of Team VWS including Sapan Vats, PRO, Darshan Singh Sidhu, Sports Co-ordinator, Sarabjeet Singh, Transport Head, Jeenia Sandhu, Rajni Sachdeva, Ritu Puri, Megha, Deepak Singla, Heena and Jasleen Kaur.
School Director Dr. S. N. Rudra emphasized that combating drug abuse requires both preventive action and a positive societal narrative. He reiterated that Vivekananda World School remains committed not only to academic excellence but also to nurturing responsible, aware, and empowered citizens.
The program concluded with a strong collective pledge to work towards a drug-free Punjab while simultaneously restoring the true image of its capable and determined youth.
