Machhiwara Sahib (Ludhiana), May 2, 2026: A violent clash between two groups of youths on Rattipur Road in Machhiwara Sahib has escalated into a double murder case after the second injured youth also succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The incident had initially claimed the life of Gagandeep Singh alias Billa, who died on the spot during the violent confrontation. On Friday, the second injured youth, Manpreet Singh alias Mani Lakhowal, also died while undergoing treatment, further intensifying the case.
Following the deaths, Khanna police district has registered a murder case against 21 persons. According to SP Harpinder Kaur, 11 individuals have been specifically named in the FIR, while 10–12 unidentified persons have also been included.
The named accused include Kabal Singh alias Pannu, Shammi, Param Grewal, Harsh Cheema, Gurvinder Singh, Jassa, Harman, Zaila, Amrit, Khushu, and Bhola.
Police officials said the clash reportedly stemmed from a personal dispute after Gagandeep Singh allegedly slapped a youth named Jaile from Village Bairsalan. The altercation escalated into a pre-planned confrontation, with both groups allegedly agreeing to meet on Rattipur Road.
During the fight, one group reportedly used sharp-edged weapons, resulting in fatal injuries to both Gagandeep Singh and Manpreet Singh.
Under the directions of SSP Khanna Darpan Ahluwalia, police conducted raids at multiple locations and recovered two cars, three two-wheelers, and weapons allegedly used in the crime.
Investigators are also probing allegations made by the victim’s family that Gagandeep Singh had been opposing drug peddling activities in the area, which may have been a motive behind the attack. Several suspects have been detained and are being questioned as the investigation continues.
