Chandigarh, May 6, 2026:
A series of low-intensity blasts in Jalandhar and Amritsar, along with a sacrilege incident in Mohali, has triggered a political storm in Punjab, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann leveling serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Reacting strongly, Mann claimed that the incidents are part of a conspiracy to influence the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. He alleged that attempts are being made to create fear and disturb peace for political gains.
“Punjab has witnessed many dark phases in the past. Such attempts to spread violence will not be tolerated now,” the Chief Minister said, warning that strict action would be taken against those responsible.
Mann further alleged that such incidents are aimed at polarizing communities and disrupting communal harmony. He asserted that the government is fully committed to maintaining law and order and will ensure that the culprits are brought to justice.
Referring to recent legal provisions, the Chief Minister said that stringent laws are now in place to deal with sacrilege cases and expressed confidence that such crimes would be curbed effectively.
Emphasizing Punjab’s tradition of peace and harmony, he said the state stands for the spirit of Sarbat da Bhala and that any attempt to disturb unity will be dealt with firmly.
No immediate response from the BJP was available at the time of filing this report.
