Jang E Azadi historian Prof. Malwinderjit Singh Waraich is no more
Breathed his last at Saketari (Panchkula)

Chandigarh, May 9, 2026: Historian of Jang E Azadi and former Professor of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College Ludhian Prof. Malwinderjit Singh Waraich today breathed his last at Saketari (Panchkula). He had celebrated his 96th birthday recently.
Prof. Malwinderjit Singh Waraich’s family had migrated from Laddewala Waraich (Gujranwala) since Independence. They first settled at Kapurthala and later setter permanently at Raver (Karnal).
Prof. Malwinderjit Singh Waraich taught at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College Ludhiana from 1960 to 1989. He taught students about Desh Bhagat Virsa Chetna, Constructive thinking, Sports culture, Self discipline and force of community working. He was a regular at sports fields or walking at Sukhna lake.
He had prerogative to work with Gadar Party founder Baba Sohan Singh Bhakna, Vidyawati mother of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Baba Hari Singh Usman, Baba Arjun Singh Jagraon, Baba Rur Singh Chuharchak, Baba Pala Singh Dhudike, Kiran Dada brother of Shaheed Jatin Das.
He had left behind only daughter Dr. Minna Waraich and thousands of eminent scholars of his school of thought.
His body has been handed over to PGI for research work as per his wishes.
