Punjab sends batch of 72 Govt teachers to Finland for training

Chandigarh, May 16, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday announced that the state has sent its largest-ever batch of 72 government school teachers to Finland for advanced educational training.
Speaking during a major press conference, Mann discussed several key issues including Punjab’s ongoing education reforms, voter list revision process, the expected joining of former Akali leader Surjit Singh Rakhra into the Aam Aadmi Party, and the ongoing water-sharing dispute with Haryana.
Highlighting the state’s education initiatives, the Chief Minister said the teachers departed for Finland via Delhi and will undergo training at a globally reputed university until May 29. The programme is aimed at exposing Punjab teachers to modern education systems and innovative teaching methods followed internationally.
Mann described the development as a major step in Punjab’s “education revolution” and said the state government is committed to transforming government schools through global learning exposure and improved infrastructure.
The Chief Minister also shared that Punjab has secured the top position in education in the latest survey released by NITI Aayog, surpassing states such as Kerala, Maharashtra and Haryana.
According to Mann, nearly 99 per cent of government schools in Punjab now have computer facilities, while electricity access has reached almost every school in the state.
He further stated that over 24 lakh parents participated in the recent mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) organised across government schools.
Mann also specially mentioned three girl students from the Dhuri constituency who secured 100 per cent marks in examinations. He congratulated Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains for the achievements in the education sector.
