5 places in Lahore renamed from Islamic to original Hindu names in 2 months

Lahore, May 19, 2026: In a move to paint liberal face of Pakistan, the Punjab Government has renamed five places in Lahore and restored their original Hindu names in 2 months.
Islampura has been renamed as Krishnanagar, Sunnat Nagar to Santnagar
Maulana Zafar Chowk to Lakshmi Chowk, Babri Masjid Chowk to Jain Mandir Chowk
And Mustafabad has been renamed as Dharmapura.
Till recently Pakistan was seen as a fanatic Islamic nations but now many news have emerged from the nation which suggest that the present regime is going soft and trying to win confidence of minorities of the nation including Hindu and Sikh communities.
This renaming move is also seen as a part of this going soft strategy.
