Railway honours two ticket checking staff with Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award for Excellence in Cycling
Ferozepur, May 25, 2026: Two Ticket Checking Inspectors (TTIs) of the Ferozepur Railway Division have been honoured with the prestigious “Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award” by the Punjab Government for their outstanding achievements and remarkable contribution in the field of cycling.
Amarjeet Singh, TTI posted at Amritsar, and Ranbir Singh, TTI posted at Jalandhar City, received the award, which is regarded as the highest sports honour conferred by the Punjab Government on sportspersons.
The “Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award” is presented only once in a sports person's lifetime in recognition of exceptional performance, achievements and distinguished contribution to sports. Both cyclists have brought laurels to the Railways through their outstanding performances in cycling events.
International cyclist Amarjeet Singh won a silver medal in the Team Sprint event at the Asia Cup held in New Delhi in 2018. In 2019, he secured a bronze medal in the Sprint event at the Asian Championship held in Thailand. In 2020, he created a national record in the 1-kilometre Time Trial event. He also won a bronze medal at the National Games held in Gujarat in 2022.
Amarjeet Singh has also created a record by winning gold medals continuously for 10 years in the Senior National Championship and is the holder of the individual national record in the one-kilometre Time Trial event.
Divisional Railway Manager Ferozepur Sanjeev Kumar congratulated both players on their achievement and extended his best wishes. He said that their success would serve as an inspiration for railway sportspersons and young talents across the region.
