The Fazilka district witnessed a peaceful and successful voting process during the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council, and Nagar Panchayat elections held this year.
District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the voters and the election staff for their dedication and cooperation in ensuring smooth conduct of the elections.
According to official reports, the district recorded an overall voter turnout of 63.44%, reflecting a commendable level of public participation in the democratic process.
Deputy Commissioner Sandhu emphasized the importance of every vote in shaping the future of the region and praised the collective efforts of election officials, law enforcement, and citizens in maintaining law and order throughout the process.
Breaking down the voter turnout, Municipal Corporation Abohar recorded a turnout of 60.05%, while the Municipal Council Fazilka saw a higher participation rate of 68.14%.
The highest voter turnout was observed in the Municipal Corporation Arniwala Sheikh Subhan, where an impressive 80.22% of registered voters cast their ballots.
In total, 1,10,237 votes were cast across the district. The District Election Officer highlighted that these figures underscore the active engagement of citizens in local governance and their commitment to strengthening democracy.
The District Election Officer commended the tireless efforts of election teams who worked around the clock to ensure that the elections were conducted without any disruptions. Special attention was given to maintaining law and order and adhering to the model code of conduct. Their vigilance and dedication played a pivotal role in upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
Deputy Commissioner Sandhu also extended her gratitude to the voters for turning out in large numbers and contributing to the democratic process. She remarked that their participation is a testament to their belief in the power of their vote and its impact on local governance.
Counting Day Scheduled for May 29
The eagerly awaited counting of votes is scheduled to take place on May 29, 2026. The results will determine the representatives who will lead the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council, and Nagar Panchayat in Fazilka district for the coming term.
