Chandigarh, June 7, 2026: A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Chandigarh Police in an alleged bribery case, triggering concern within the police department.
The arrested officer has been identified as Hitesh Kumar, who was posted at Sector 39 Police Station in Chandigarh.
According to sources, the CBI conducted the operation following a complaint alleging that the officer had demanded a bribe. The agency reportedly caught the ASI red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe amount.
Following the arrest, the CBI registered an FIR and initiated further investigation into the matter. The agency is also carrying out questioning and examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence.
The development has created a stir within the Chandigarh Police department, as the case involves a serving police official accused of corruption.
