Bathinda (Punjab), June 12, 2026: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday made a significant political claim, stating that the next Punjab Assembly elections may be held in November this year instead of February, as widely expected.
Addressing a roadshow in Bathinda alongside Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Kejriwal said he had received information suggesting that the elections could be advanced, leaving only a few months for political parties to prepare.
“According to the information I have received, Punjab Assembly elections may take place in November rather than February. Only about four months are left, and our sole objective should be to ensure that Bhagwant Mann returns as Chief Minister,” Kejriwal told supporters.
Praising Mann's leadership, the AAP chief described him as one of the most honest Chief Ministers Punjab has seen. He alleged that previous governments in the state had faced accusations of corruption and misuse of public funds, while claiming that neither Mann, his family members nor his ministers had faced any such allegations.
Kejriwal also targeted the BJP-led Central Government, asserting that central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had scrutinised opposition leaders across the country, but no corruption allegations had surfaced against the Punjab Chief Minister.
Highlighting the achievements of the AAP government in Punjab, Kejriwal said the state administration had introduced free electricity and several welfare schemes by ensuring better management of public funds. He further claimed that financial assistance for women would soon be rolled out under the government's proposed welfare initiatives.
The AAP leader said several development projects launched since 2022 were still underway and stressed the need for continuity in governance to complete them. He urged party workers and supporters to intensify efforts ahead of the anticipated electoral battle.
