New Delhi, June 13, 2026: In a major move to ensure the integrity of the upcoming NEET UG 2026 re-examination, authorities have decided to deploy Indian Air Force (IAF) Mi-17 helicopters for the transportation of question papers to examination centres across the country.
The decision comes in the wake of the recent NEET paper leak controversy, with the re-examination scheduled for June 21, 2026.
Officials believe that using military aircraft will significantly reduce the risk of tampering, leakage, or delays in the delivery of confidential examination material.
The Mi-17, one of the Indian Air Force’s most dependable medium-lift helicopters, has been entrusted with the crucial task of securely transporting question papers to designated locations, particularly in remote and sensitive regions.
Manufactured in Russia, the Mi-17 helicopter is widely known for its reliability, versatility, and operational efficiency. The aircraft is regularly used by the IAF for troop transport, logistics support, disaster relief operations, and rescue missions. The advanced Mi-17 V5 variant is equipped with modern avionics, enhanced engines, and night-flying capabilities, making it suitable for a wide range of missions.
With security concerns surrounding national-level examinations under intense scrutiny, authorities are banking on the IAF’s proven capabilities to ensure the safe and timely delivery of NEET re-exam papers across the country.
