Amritsar (Punjab), June 20, 2026: A significant development has emerged in Punjab’s political and Panthic landscape as senior Congress leader and MLA Rana Gurjit Singh has announced that he will appear before Sri Akal Takht Sahib on June 29, 2026.
His appearance comes following a summons issued by the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to several Sikh legislators. Confirming his compliance, Rana Gurjit Singh said that he holds Sri Akal Takht Sahib in the highest esteem and will present himself before the Sikh temporal seat as a humble Sikh.
“Shri Akal Takht Sahib is the supreme institution of Sikhs. On its call, I will appear there like a humble Sikh and will accept every order with a respectful and open heart,” he stated.
The development follows a similar announcement by Aam Aadmi Party MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali, who had also confirmed his appearance before Sri Akal Takht Sahib in compliance with the summons.
Political observers note that the summons issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib has triggered heightened activity and discussion among Sikh political representatives in Punjab, with several leaders affirming their intent to respect the directive of the highest temporal authority in Sikhism.
Further developments are expected as the scheduled date approaches, with attention focused on the proceedings at Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
