NEET aspirant found dead hours before exam

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), June 20, 2026: A 22-year-old NEET aspirant was found dead at his residence in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad just hours before he was scheduled to appear for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG), police said on Saturday.
The deceased, identified as Jatin Kumar, was a resident of the Vijayanagar area and had reportedly been preparing for the medical entrance examination for a considerable period.
According to family members, Jatin remained in his room studying late into Thursday night. The following morning, when relatives went to wake him up, they discovered him unresponsive and immediately alerted authorities.
Police and forensic teams reached the spot and began an investigation. During the course of the inquiry, officials recovered a video from Jatin’s mobile phone that is believed to have been recorded shortly before his death.
Sources said the video shows Jatin speaking about his upcoming examination. He reportedly stated that he was not facing any external pressure and that his father had encouraged him not to stress over the exam. Investigators are currently examining the video as part of the case.
Jatin was the only son of his parents. His father is employed in a government department, while his mother is a homemaker. He is also survived by a younger sister who is pursuing her studies. The sudden tragedy has left the family devastated.
Speaking on the matter, ACP Upasana Pandey said that the video recovered from the student’s phone has been taken into custody and included in the investigation. She added that the body has been sent for post-mortem examination and that police are examining all aspects of the case, including the authenticity of the video and any possible factors that may have contributed to the incident.
Authorities said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
