Chandigarh, June 23, 2026: Punjab is set to begin door-to-door enumeration under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 from June 25, marking the start of a major exercise aimed at updating and strengthening electoral records across the state.
Ahead of the launch, a symbolic awareness programme was organised in which more than 2,000 young volunteers formed a massive human chain, sending a strong message of public participation and collective responsibility in ensuring the successful implementation of the campaign.

Officials said the Special Intensive Revision exercise is designed to carry out a comprehensive verification and updating of electoral data through direct household outreach. The initiative is expected to enhance the accuracy and transparency of voter records while encouraging greater public engagement in the electoral process.
The large-scale human chain served as a public awareness effort, highlighting the importance of cooperation between citizens, volunteers and election authorities during the enumeration drive.
Participants pledged support for the campaign and called upon residents across Punjab to cooperate with enumerators during the house-to-house survey process.
The door-to-door enumeration exercise will commence across the state on June 25, with teams reaching households to collect and verify relevant information as part of the Special Intensive Revision programme.
Authorities expressed confidence that with active public participation and coordinated efforts on the ground, the SIR 2026 campaign will be completed smoothly and successfully, ensuring updated and accurate electoral rolls throughout Punjab.
