Amritsar, June 29, 2026: Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gadgaj has out rightly rejected newly enacted Jagaat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Act and has raised many objections on provisions of the Act.
As per Jathedar Gadgaj, Punjab Government has no authority to decide on ‘maryada’ of Guru Granth Sahib. He had also objected on use of word ‘Custodian’ of Guru Granth Sahib. Similarly he had also raised objections on labelling with UID numbers and posting them on website of SGPC.
He also had raised objection that Punjab Government has failed to hold consultations with Akal Takht Sahib, SGPC and other Panthic organisations before enacting the Act.
Jathedar also called representatives of different panthic organisations and consulted them on the objection on provisions of the Act. All these representative gave their consult to Jathedar and congregations decided to summon all MLAs who were part of proceedings to enact this Act.
Jathedar had already summoned Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Kultar Singh Sandhwan on the issue.
