Jagatpura (Chandigarh) July 7:
A dream that began by teaching children beside a garbage dump has now blossomed into a vibrant centre for education and community empowerment.
Vriddhi Educational and Social Welfare Society inaugurated its new main centre at Jagatpura in a ceremony presided over by Dr. Neeza Singh, Librarian, T.S. Central State Library as Chief Guest. The event was attended by educators, doctors, social workers, artists, representatives of welfare organisations, Lions Club members, volunteers, interns, students and supporters.
The inauguration marked a significant milestone in Vriddhi’s journey, which began years ago by teaching children beside a garbage dump and has now grown into a dedicated centre for education and community development.
A highlight of the programme was the participation of senior students who have been associated with Vriddhi since childhood. Many are now pursuing higher education and shared how the organisation continues to be a source of guidance and support in their lives.
The celebration came alive with vibrant cultural performances by children and youth, reflecting their confidence, creativity and talent. Interns also spoke about their enriching experiences, describing Vriddhi as a platform that truly transforms lives through meaningful community service.
In her inspiring address, Dr. Neeza Singh emphasized the transformative power of education and the vital role of books and libraries in shaping young minds. She encouraged the children to dream big, remain committed to learning, and believe in their potential, stating that knowledge and determination are the keys to a brighter future.
Appreciating Vriddhi's unwavering commitment, Dr Neeza Singh announced her support for establishing a library at the new centre, opening new doors of knowledge and opportunity for the children.
The programme concluded with a chabeel for guests and community members, followed by a plantation ceremony symbolising hope and growth.
