Punjab Govt moves to resolve pending employee issues; Cheema holds key Union meetings

Chandigarh, July 7, 2026: In a major initiative to address the long-pending demands of state employees, Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema on Monday chaired a series of meetings with representatives of various employee unions, assuring them of time-bound action on issues related to payment fixation, transfers, regularisation and training.
The meetings, held under the Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by the Finance Minister, focused on reviewing memorandums submitted by different employee associations and finding practical solutions to their professional and financial concerns.
During the discussions, Cheema met representatives of the 3704 Adhiyapak Union, ETT 2364 Adhiyapak Union, E.T. TET Pass Adhyapak Union (Jai Singh Wala) and the 10 Saal Service Poori Kar Chukke Kachche Adhyapak Union. The unions raised issues related to payment fixation, transfers and the regularisation of teachers.
Taking note of the concerns, the Finance Minister directed the concerned department to expedite the process of resolving the legitimate demands of the teaching workforce.
Cheema also held a meeting with representatives of the Medical Practitioner’s Association Punjab, who highlighted the important role played by rural medical practitioners in delivering healthcare services across the state. The association sought the early launch of specialised training programmes for its members.
The Finance Minister acknowledged the contribution of rural medical practitioners and said the government would examine the necessary administrative measures to begin formal training programmes in coordination with the Health Department.
Representatives who participated in the meetings included Harjinder Singh, Yadwinder Singh and Jeevanjot Singh from the 3704 Adhiyapak Union; Samarjit Singh, Gurdeep Singh and Jugraj Singh from the ETT 2364 Adhiyapak Union; Kamal Thakur, Sohan Singh and Gurmukh Singh from the E.T. TET Pass Adhyapak Union (Jai Singh Wala); Jaspal Singh, Mamta, Tajinder Kaur and Kiranjeet Kaur from the 10 Saal Service Poori Kar Chukke Kachche Adhyapak Union; and Dr. Ramesh Bali, Dr. Maghar Singh Mashal and Dr. Angrej Singh Sema from the Medical Practitioner’s Association Punjab.
The Punjab Government said the meetings reflect its commitment to maintaining regular dialogue with employee organisations and ensuring the timely resolution of genuine grievances through consultation and administrative action.
