Breaking:Charged by FBI, Tanda SHO shifted by Punjab Police

Chandigarh, July 8, 2026: The Punjab Police has shifted Inspector Gurinderjit Singh Nagra, Station House Officer (SHO) of Tanda Police Station in Hoshiarpur district, to Police Lines, Hoshiarpur, after taking cognisance of reports linking him to an alleged extortion investigation by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
In an official statement, the Office of the DIG, Jalandhar Range, said the department has taken note of news reports and social media posts regarding the alleged nomination of Inspector Nagra in connection with an extortion-related investigation reportedly being conducted by the FBI under “Operation Hardball.”
The statement added that pending verification of the facts, Inspector Nagra has been transferred from Tanda Police Station and attached to Police Lines, Hoshiarpur, with immediate effect.
“Punjab Police has taken cognisance of news reports and social media posts referring to the alleged nomination of Inspector Gurinderjit Singh Nagra… Pending verification of the facts, Inspector Gurinderjit Singh Nagra has been shifted from Police Station Tanda to Police Lines, Hoshiarpur, with immediate effect,” the official statement said.
The action follows reports that the FBI has accused Nagra of involvement in an alleged USD 400,000 (approximately Rs 3.3 crore) extortion case involving a US-based Indian-origin family.
