Chandigarh, July 8, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has issued an important message for women across the state, announcing that beneficiaries whose names do not appear in the updated electoral rolls may not be eligible to receive benefits under the state's flagship Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana and other government welfare schemes.
In a video message, the Chief Minister urged all mothers, sisters and daughters in Punjab to actively participate in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls being conducted by the Election Commission of India and ensure that they submit the required forms to retain their names in the voter list.
Addressing women, Mann congratulated them and said that the government had fulfilled another major promise by depositing financial assistance directly into their bank accounts. He added that the ongoing voter list revision is equally important, as it will determine eligibility for several welfare schemes.
Women Must Complete SIR Process
The Chief Minister stressed that every eligible citizen must complete the SIR process to ensure their names remain on the new electoral roll. He warned that women who fail to submit the required forms risk having their names removed from the voter list.
According to Mann, those whose names are missing from the electoral rolls could lose access to the monthly financial assistance provided under the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana—currently ranging between ₹1,000 and ₹1,500—as well as benefits under other public welfare programmes.
Seek Assistance from BLOs and Volunteers
Appealing to women not to ignore the exercise, Mann said protecting one's voting rights is essential. He advised anyone facing difficulties in filling out the SIR form to approach local volunteers or their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs), who have been directed to provide complete assistance throughout the process.
The Chief Minister reiterated that timely completion of the voter verification process would ensure uninterrupted access to government welfare benefits while safeguarding citizens' voting rights.
