TRAGIC NEWS FROM FOREIGN LAND
Ferozepur youth dies of suspected heart attack in UK; Family appeals to Govt to bring back mortal remains
Ferozepur, July 9, 2026: Tragic news from the United Kingdom has once again highlighted the growing number of untimely deaths of young Punjabis living abroad. Sehajdeep Singh, a resident of Suba Kadim village in Ferozepur district, reportedly died of a suspected heart attack while in the UK.
According to the family, Sehajdeep had gone to the UK for higher studies. After completing his education, he was working there on a work permit. His mother said that he had gone for a walk in a park with a friend when he suddenly collapsed. He was immediately rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The preliminary cause of death is believed to be a heart attack.
Sehajdeep was the only brother of two sisters and had been working hard abroad to improve his family's financial condition. The family was eagerly awaiting his return, and preparations for his marriage were already underway. However, fate had other plans.
Family member Ranjit Singh appealed to the Central and Punjab governments to intervene and coordinate with the UK authorities to facilitate the early repatriation of Sehajdeep's mortal remains so that the family can perform his last rites in his native village.
The incident comes close on the heels of another tragic case involving Nagita, a young woman from Lohka village in Tarn Taran district, who recently died in Armenia after falling ill. She had gone abroad to support her financially struggling family. Her relatives had reportedly borrowed money to fund her medical treatment, but she succumbed during treatment.
The back-to-back tragedies have once again raised concerns over the hardships and uncertainties faced by Punjabi youth living and working overseas.
