Chandigarh, July 11, 2026: Seeking to put to rest speculation over infighting in the Punjab Congress, the party’s state affairs in-charge Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday asserted that there was “no resentment” within the organisation after a high-level meeting with former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and leaders from his camp. He said the concerns raised by some members would be conveyed to the Congress high command.
The meeting, held at the residence of senior Congress leader and MLA Rana Gurjit Singh in Chandigarh, lasted several hours and focused on issues arising out of the recent organisational reshuffle in the Punjab Congress.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Baghel dismissed reports of internal discord.
“Koi naraz nahi hai. Kisi ko aiteraaz nahi hai. Sab party high command ke saath hain,” he said.
Baghel acknowledged that some leaders had raised certain issues during the meeting and assured them that their concerns would be placed before the party leadership.
“Kuch baatein kuch members ne rakhi hain. Punjab in-charge hone ke naate maine unhe ashwasan diya hai ki unke mudde party high command ke saamne rakhe jayenge,” he said.
The meeting was attended by Charanjit Singh Channi, Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, senior Congress leaders, former ministers, MLAs, MPs and youth leaders.
The discussions come amid speculation over internal differences in the Punjab Congress following recent organisational changes. However, Baghel maintained that the party remains united and reiterated that all issues discussed during the meeting would be placed before the Congress high command for consideration.
