Ferozepur pays rich tributes to Shaheed-e-Azam Udham Singh on Martyrdom Day
Ferozepur, July 31, 2026: Shaheed-e-Azam Udham Singh was remembered with deep reverence across the country on his martyrdom day, with people from political, religious and social backgrounds paying homage to the legendary freedom fighter and honouring his supreme sacrifice.
A special tribute ceremony was organised at Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk in Ferozepur, where Ferozepur Urban MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar, along with his supporters, laid floral wreaths at the life-size statue of the great martyr. A special prayer was also offered for the welfare of all and eternal peace of the departed soul.
Among those who paid tributes were Ferozepur Rural MLA Rajnish Kumar Dahiya, BJP leader Anumit Singh Heera Sodhi and several representatives of different political parties.
Those present recalled Udham Singh’s unparalleled contribution to India’s freedom struggle and said his supreme sacrifice would continue to inspire generations to come.
Religious personalities Baba Gurmel Singh, Kar Sewa in-charge of Gurdwara Bajidpur Sahib, and Baba Bilambar Singh of Gurdwara Saragarhi Sahib participated in the ceremony. Baba Bilambar Singh offered prayers for the progress and well-being of the country and in memory of the martyrs.
Several prominent local personalities, administrative and social leaders also attended the ceremony, including Darshan Singh Sher Khan, Kartar Singh Rukna Mugla, Bapu Bakshish Singh, former Sarpanch Bhag Singh Asal, Advocate Baljit Singh, Jaspal Handa, Excise Inspector, Civil Defence Chief Warden Parminder Singh Thind, Bindu Josan Kamboj, Chairman Kamboj Welfare Board, Ashok Sachdeva, President Municipal Council, Bohar Singh, Vice-President Municipal Council, MC Lakhwinder Singh Nagpal and Sukhdev Kamboj, Chairman Punjab Traders Commission.
