Powercom CMD Basant Garg assures uninterrupted power supply, meets Industry and farmers

Ludhiana, August , 7, 2026: Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (Powercom) Chairman-cum-Managing Director Dr. Basant Garg on Friday held separate meetings with representatives of industrial associations and farmers’ organisations, assuring them of uninterrupted power supply and prompt resolution of their concerns.
Dr. Garg said the meetings were organised in line with the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to ensure reliable electricity supply to industrial and agricultural consumers across Punjab.
Representatives of industrial bodies submitted a memorandum seeking measures to strengthen the power distribution system. Their key demands included uninterrupted electricity supply, filling technical staff vacancies, preventive maintenance before the summer season, establishment of new substations, timely replacement of ageing transformers, realignment of long cable lines and improved street lighting in industrial areas.
Responding to the demands, Dr. Garg assured the representatives that all suggestions would be examined seriously and public-interest proposals would be implemented on a priority basis. He reiterated that uninterrupted power supply to industries remains one of Powercom’s top priorities and said industries would be informed in advance whenever emergency power shutdowns become unavoidable.
He also advised industrialists to directly approach him or Powercom officials regarding load enhancement, transformer overloading or other technical issues to ensure timely redressal.
During a separate meeting with farmers’ organisations, Dr. Garg assured that their grievances would also be addressed on priority. He said farmers could directly contact him if their concerns were not resolved at any level. He added that whenever temporary power cuts become unavoidable, the lost supply is compensated through additional electricity.
Highlighting ongoing infrastructure development, Dr. Garg said Powercom is undertaking large-scale works under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to modernise and strengthen the electricity distribution network. He said the projects would improve system reliability and ensure better, uninterrupted power services for consumers across the state.
Reaffirming Powercom’s commitment, the CMD said the corporation remains focused on delivering quality power supply and ensuring the timely resolution of consumer grievances.
